After a year of planning and talking to my husband about what my goals for 2018 would be..I decided I wanted to try something new! I wanted to book less weddings keeping it around 18 a year AND find a studio/office space. To be honest for the last 6 years I have worked on a laptop from the couch, kitchen table, coffee shop, car, airport but most of the time my bed. My equipment has taken over my house AND I need a designed office space. I have struggled with work/family hours. I edit sometimes 12-14 hours a day. I spend maybe an hour with my children and that has to change. Making an office outside of my house was my answer... you know.. out of sight out of mind!?! If my workspace isn't in my house then it will force me to set work hours and focus on family in the evenings.
Also with the Wisconsin winters that typically last from Nov 1st to April..some years even May. I need a place where I can still take photos, with amazing lighting and details during Winter.
SOOOOO yesterday I opened the studio to 8 families for mini sessions. It's not a 100% complete but it was complete enough for last minute holiday mini sessions. I have to thank my friends Tim Klein with Two Men and a Tool Box and Kevin Fabian for all the construction. Shawn Perry for the heat and electrical. My husband for helping me paint and building the furniture. My amazing florist Dayna with The Flower Gallery in Manitowoc for making these gorgeous wreaths last minute because well 1. That's how I roll ;) 2. I wasn't sure if I was going to make the deadline but we did!!
I also want to thank all of my clients for continuing to book sessions and sharing their families and babies with me! I can't tell you how much I love watching my family clients and their babies change from session to session.
Here's a few photos from each of my sessions yesterday..starting with the Gallina's
I photographed Josie and her parents a couple weeks ago for their Christmas tree farm mini... But Josie needed a few 1st birthday photos with a princess dress and balloons.
Brynn and her daughters stopped over to update photos. Brynn has saved my husband and I SOOO much time by coming to our house to cut the kids hair! What would take 1 1/2 -2 hours at a salon now only takes 30 mins.
The Menges family scheduled another Holiday session. They originally planned a Christmas tree farm session but like me.. we don't like being cold! So they waited for the studio and I'm so happy they did!
Stacey and Tyler stopped by to update photos with Olivia and Grace! I can't believe Grace is already 6 months old!
