Cameron and Kayla met in September of 2008 in a writing class at Waunakee High School. He was a senior (17) and Kayla was a junior (16). They were put together in a group to work on a project and immediately hit it off. The Homecoming dance was coming up soon after they met and even though they didn’t go together, Cameron and Kayla ended up finding each other there and dancing all night. After that they exchanged phone numbers and started hanging out on the weekends. They spent the rest of his senior year together in Waunakee and then ended up going to different colleges based on the programs offered. Cameron went to UW-Platteville to pursue a degree in Industrial Engineering and Kayla went to UW-Eau Claire to pursue a degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. They endured long distance for six years, but always spent the summers together. Long distance, although not always easy, definitely made their relationship stronger. Cameron and Kayla believe absence truly does make the heart grow fonder. It definitely makes you thankful for every moment you have together.
The Proposal: After Cameron graduated he moved back to their hometown, started working at Stoughton Trailers, and patiently waited 2 more years for Kayla to finish graduate school in May of 2016. Little did she know, while she was still in Eau Claire, with the help of her Maid of Honor, Michelle, Cameron had designed and purchased Kayla's engagement ring. Cameron proposed on October 8th, 2016 at Rock of Gibraltar in Lodi, WI. In the past they had a few picnics up at the top and enjoyed the beautiful view together. Cameron planned a double date with their friends Michelle and Dustin, they enjoyed the day outside and sharing a spot they both love with their friends. Cameron knew Kayla wanted pictures of the proposal and she found it incredibly sweet how he planned it all out with Michelle and Dustin so flawlessly beforehand without her knowing. October 30th, 2017 marked 9 years together.
A little message from Kayla
"I have dreamed of the day that we would be together forever and I can’t believe it’s actually happening and I’m marrying my high school sweetheart! We cannot imagine our lives without each other. Everyday together is a new adventure and opportunity to grow as a couple! We have already shared in so many life events and made countless memories and are so looking forward to our happily ever after!"
June 23rd 2018 it was finally their wedding day!! Cameron and Kayla planned their wedding at Noah's Event Venue in Madison Wisconsin. It's a beautiful venue with PERFECT lighting ;) We planned a first look for the bridesmaids, with Kayla's dad and finally Cameron and Kayla. They stood back to back and read the letters they wrote each other before turning around. The rest is history! They spent the rest of the rest of their wedding day with family and friends.
